Needs the Premium Backups add-on. Plans don't include backups. Without the add-on, make your own with Backup Wizard in the control panel and download each copy within 2 days, before it's cleared. See How Premium Backups work.
Any copy from the last 30 days can be restored from the Backups page while the plan is active. A restore covers the whole plan and happens in place.
What a restore changes
- Every file in the copy goes back to how it was that day.
- Every database in the copy is replaced with that day's version.
- Files added since the copy stay. A restore doesn't delete them.
- DNS records and add-ons aren't changed.
After a hack, open a ticket before you restore. Files an attacker added would survive a restore, so we clean up with you.
Before you restore
A restore overwrites every file and database in the copy with that day's version. If anything from today is worth keeping, click Back up now first and wait for it to show Ready. A plan runs one backup or restore at a time, so the restore can't start until that backup has finished.
Restoring
- Open the plan under Hosting and click Backups.
- Find the copy and click Restore.
- Confirm. The site is offline while the restore runs.
A restore usually takes a few minutes, longer for large plans.
If the restore fails
We're alerted straight away. A failed restore can leave the plan part-restored, so leave the site as it is and we'll finish it. New backups pause until then. Open a ticket naming the copy if it's urgent. This is why it's worth taking a Back up now copy first.
