How add-ons attach, bill and switch off

Premium Backups, Monitoring and Transactional Email — one plan each, billed with it, removable at any time.

Three add-ons can be switched on for a hosting plan:

Add-on What it does
Premium Backups A copy of the whole plan every day, encrypted, stored off-site and kept 30 days. Restore it from your dashboard
Monitoring Uptime and response-time checks every minute, incident emails, certificate expiry warnings
Transactional Email Mail your site or app sends from your own domain, through Postmark

Each attaches to one plan. Two plans that both need backups need the add-on on each.

Switching one on

Open the plan under Hosting and use the add-on's switch. The add-on is added to the plan's subscription and the first charge is prorated for the rest of the current period. From the next period it bills with the plan on the same date, in the same invoice.

Add-ons can also be chosen at checkout when buying a plan.

Switching one off

Turn the switch off on the same page. The add-on keeps working until the end of the current billing period, because you have paid for it, and is then removed. Until that date the switch shows Resume, which cancels the removal with nothing to pay.

What removal means for each add-on:

  • Premium Backups stops taking backups. Backups already taken stay on the Backups page, and can still be restored, until they're 30 days old. Then they're deleted. See How Premium Backups work.
  • Monitoring stops checking. The history stays, so switching it on again picks up where it left off.
  • Transactional Email stops sending for the plan's domains and the credentials stop working. Anything still using them will fail to send, so update your site first.
