Every domain carries four contacts at the registry: registrant, admin, technical and billing. The registrant is the legal holder of the domain; the other roles say who the registry may contact about it.
Editing a contact
Open the domain under Domains. The Registry contacts card shows each role. Click the pencil on a contact and the card becomes a form; save and it is pushed to the registry straight away, with the other contacts still visible while you edit.
Keep the registrant email address current. It is where the registry sends transfer approvals and eligibility notices, and it is what proves you hold the domain.
What is public
Australian domains must carry accurate registrant information under the registry's rules, and some of it appears in public WHOIS lookups. Your details are only ever used to administer the domain.
Global domains such as .com can have personal details kept out of
public WHOIS. Open a ticket if you would like that set up.
Changing the registrant
Changing who holds the domain, for example after selling a business, is a change of ownership rather than a contact edit. Some registries require confirmation from both parties. Open a ticket and we walk you through it.
