Australian domains require an Australian presence. We collect the details at checkout, check their format before you pay, and file them with the registry for you, so there is no separate application.

The domain name must be an exact match or a close and substantial connection to the entity, business name or trademark provided.
At checkout
You pick the identifier type and enter the number. We validate the format against the registry's rules before payment, so a mistyped ABN is caught immediately rather than after the charge. The details are sent to the registry with the registration.
Keeping it valid
Eligibility is checked by the registry for the life of the domain. If the ABN is cancelled or the business name lapses, the registry can suspend the domain. Update the details from the .au eligibility card on the domain's page when they change, or open a ticket if the entity has changed entirely.
Nothing needed for .nz
New Zealand domains have no eligibility rules. See .nz domains.
